Christian Lacroix dresses Peer Gynt for the Comédie-Française

Plunging audiences into the whimsical world of Henrik Ibsen’s most acclaimed play, Peer Gynt, Christian Lacroix Habille Peer Gynt pour la Comédie-Française presents the costumes for this spectacular production, directed by couturier Christian Lacroix.

Recognized as one of the most extravagant designers of the 20th century, Christian Lacroix is renowned for his contributions to the world of fashion. Embellished with exuberant colors and rich details, his work is synonymous with elegance, and can be admired as much on the catwalk as on the stage.

Combining the principles of haute couture with the technical precision of costume design, Christian Lacroix’s sumptuous creations for theater, opera and ballet can also be seen in productions at the Opéra Garnier, the Metropolitan Opera and the American Ballet Theater.

The exhibition celebrates Christian Lacroix’s collaboration with the Comédie-Française, which began in the 1990s.
