21.01.19 → 23.07.19
The exhibition shows for the first time the archive collection of Mr. Alaïa. Azzedine Alaïa never ceased to acquire dresses, suits, models of those he admired, constituting a historical, emblematic and unique collection in the world. Gilbert Adrian, better known as Adrian, was a great costume designer in Hollywood in the 1930s and director of the Goldwyn Mayer Metro, a major production company at the time. Azzedine Alaïa collects Adrian’s work, very much admiring his sense of form and proportion. The exhibition is a dialogue between Adrian’s models and those of Azzedine Alaïa. Through the prism of the tailors, both of whom share the same excellence, the exhibition shows to what extent the design and construction of the jackets united these two fashion greats.
