Visa pour l’Image-Perpignan is an international festival of photojournalism created in 1989 by Roger Thérond, then editorial director of Paris-Match. He had entrusted its organization to Michel Decron, director of the Filipacchi Group’s photo journal.
Directed by Jean-François Leroy, Visa pour l’Image takes place every September in the centre of Perpignan for three weeks (the third week being reserved for schoolchildren).
Visa pour l’Image is the largest free public photojournalism festival in the world, with an attendance of nearly 200,000 visitors, 10,000 schoolchildren and 3,000 professionals.
Pierre Conte was elected as the President of the Association Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan, by its members who met April 4, 2024. He succeeds Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, who held this position since April 2019.
