The Musée d’art contemporain de Montélimar presents, for the first time in France since the artist’s death, a retrospective exhibition dedicated to William Klein (New York 1926 – Paris 2022) from June 29, 2024 to January 6, 2025.
Entitled PLAY PLAY PLAY, it brings together more than one hundred and fifty works: period prints, large-format prints, archival documents, books, film extracts, it presents William Klein painter, photographer and filmmaker.  This exhibition invites us to follow the artist on the artistic, media and political terrain that he has explored for more than fifty years and over which he has continually reintroduced modes of representation.
The course engages the viewer today to (re)live, according to the movements and looks of Roman and Tokyo children or the giant Ali, a century marked -for better and for worse- by the media image, and invites to appreciate the contemporary resonance of the work bequeathed.
The presentation of a retrospective exhibition, one and a half years after his death and 40 years after his first encounter with the territory, is a new story that emerges between his work, the Drôme Provençale and Montélimar.
